ELECTRONIC MANUAL SPECIFICATION VECTARIS©

 

The full version of the Vectaris© electronic manual is a dedicated item of software capable of running on an individual PC, across a network or over the Internet.

The full version of the Vectaris© electronic manual is a standalone application not dependent on external software packages for its internal operation; however, links to external applications is an essential part of its construction (as detailed below). The full version of the Vectaris© electronic manual is not merely a front end for bespoke applications and must run as an executable file in its own right.

Configuration of Electronic Manual

The full version of the Vectaris© electronic manual offers the following features and functions:

·                     Is intuitive (no extensive training required to learn to use the program) with simple to use graphical user interface (GUI)

·                     Is totally user friendly (the whole program is mouse driven with no keystrokes essential)

·                     Is capable of running on all of the popular operating systems Windows95/98/NT/Apple Mac, Windows 3.1.

·                     Contains hot-links to relevant sections throughout the manual i.e. when looking at a schematic, the details for any plant shown can be accessed directly things such as Data, Health and Safety etc.

·                     Contains graphical representations of the buildings covered offering a complete overview of all systems covered.

·                     Is able to connect to external programs such as AUTOCAD© and planned preventive maintenance schemes such as Maximo©, Concept 3000 ©, etc.

·                     Contains static data i.e. cannot be changed by accident.

·                     Is able to send e-mail and faxes via the default mail/e-mail applications on the host PC.

·                     Is capable of running from a CD-ROM disc

·                     Is capable of producing printed output to allow engineers to take information on to site

·                     Includes an unlimited license The user can make as many copies as he likes

·                     Is modular each section of an electronic manual is a separate manual in its own right this allows quick and easy alterations.

·                     Is capable of remote update via the Internet quite easily.

·                     Contains descriptive and clear diagrams and computer animations:

·                     Contains step-by-step procedures explained within intrinsic text, and be amplified by photographs and animations, where required. The provision for the adoption of video footage to support text shall also be included.

·                     Is capable of incorporating audio instruction as an added service.

·                     Is able to be configured for telephone access where the telephone handset star keys are used to navigate through topics and the relevant information is relayed verbally to a caller.

·                     Contains a live update facility utilising a set of www links built into the software. The links is able to direct the user to their own electronic manual web page this page would contain relevant links to: manufactures information (spares and maintenance techniques and advances), health and safety legislation (this makes the H&S section immortal) and any relevant information on the plant installed, chemicals used etc.

The Vectaris© Lite electronic manual offers an uncomplicated and highly cost effective approach to electronic publishing.

Vectaris© Lite utilises all the embedded features in the Microsoft Office Suite to best advantage.

 

Configuration of Electronic Manual

Vectaris© Lite offers the following features and functions:

·                     Is easy to use with point and click mouse functions that enable the reader to access all relevent information

·                     Utilises Microsoft Office Suite functions, so that a familiar base is provided for the user

·                     As Microsoft Word files are used for the core of the program, the files can be edited to reflect modifications to the building/project throughout the 'life' of the project without the recourse for external sources.

·                     Contains hot-links to relevant sections throughout the manual i.e. when looking at a schematic, the details for any plant shown can be accessed directly things such as Data, Health and Safety etc. These hot links can be customised to suite the individual client or contract

·                     Is able to connect to external programs.

·                     Is able to send e-mail and faxes via the default mail/e-mail applications on the host PC.
